Glass Executive Active In Garden Clubs Mrs. Marian Lang, who was a member of a number of women's organizations and garden clubs here, died yesterday morning at Union Memorial Hospital. She was 67.

The former Marian Gift, she was born in Pennsylvania but moved to Baltimore as a child. She attended Western High School and was graduated in 1920 from Goucher College. Father Headed Lutheran Home Her father, the late Rev. Dr. Foster U.

Gift, was director of the Lutheran Deaconess Home here before his death in 1943. Mrs. Lang was married to the late George Frederick Lang, who was president of the CarrLowry Glass Company. Mr. Lang died about twelve years ago.

A resident of the Ambassador Apartments for many years, Mrs. Lang belonged to the Woman's Club of Roland Park and the Little Garden Club of Homeland. Goucher Alumnae Worker She was active in the Alumnae Association of Goucher College and was a member of the Gibson Island Garden Club, the Baltimore Country Club and the Gibson Island Club. Mrs. Lang was a member of First English Lutheran Church, 3805 North Charles street, where funeral services will be held at 1 P.M.

Tuesday. Survivors include her daughter, Mrs. Virginia Lang-Dunigan, of Washington, and five grandchildren. J. E.

Hergenroeder, Sr. A requiem high mass for John E. Hergenroeder, a retired baker, will be offered at 9 A.M. tomorrow at St. Dominic's Church, 5312 Harford road.

Mr. Hergenroeder, who was 85, died Friday at St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Catonsville, after a long illness. Born in Germany, he came to Baltimore in about 1907. and worked for an uncle, Jacob Myrtle, a baker here, for many years.

Mr. Hergenroeder later opened his own bakery at 2919 Hamilton avenue and operated the store for about 40 years before retiring last year. A member of the Holy Name Society at St. Dominic's, he had made three trips back to Germany, the last about sixteen years ago. Mr.

Hergenroeder is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Anna Polk; four sons, Otto J. and Emil J. Hergenroeder, John E. Hergenroeder, and former city councilman, Henry R.

Hergenroeder, all of Baltimore; 30 grandchildren and 18 greatgrandchildren. S. Pinkney Tuck Paris, April 22 (P -S. Pinkney Tuck, former United States Ambassador and administrator of the Suez Canal, died in the American hospital today after a long illness, his family announced. He was 75.

A descendant of United States Supreme Court Justice John Marshall, Mr. Tuck was born May 31, 1891, in New York. He studied in Switzerland and Germany, and was graduated from Dartmouth College. He entered the diplomatic corps in 1913, becoming diplomatic minister to Egypt in 1944. He later served as a United States Ambassador in South America, and in 1948 was ap-9 pointed administrator of the Suez Canal, the first American to hold the post.

He was a commander in the French Legion of Honor and held the Hungarian Order off Merit. Services will be Thursday in the American Cathedral in Paris. He was a player with the Orioles until 1928, when he became manager after Mr. Dunn's death. As manager, he led the team to four first-division finishes. Mr. Maisel later served, from 1938 to 1951, as chief of the Baltimore County Fire Department.

Married for the last 53 years to the former Christine ho*rl, he lived at 507 Valcour road, Catonsville. In 1962, he received the first annual "Catonsville Man of the Year" award from the Catonsville Business Men's Association. Named To Hall Of Fame The following year, Mr. Maisel was named to the Maryland Hall of Fame and the Shrine of the Immortals. He shared the latter honor with his first manager and mentor, Jack Dunn, Sr.

As a scout for the Orioles, he said he looked for good legs, speed, good arm and hustle in rating potential players. "A player who hustles can have a job in baseball as long as he wants one and the public will never forget him," he once remarked. "If you hustle, you put pressure on the opposition. He was a great of Maury Wills, who in 1963 broke the record set by Ty Cobb in 1915. With 96 stolen bases, Ty Cobb had broken Mr.

Hess, 39, Is Dead After Short Illness Robert E. Hess, a native of Baltimore who had practiced as la lawyer died here for the last eight years, yesterday morning at Union Memorial Hospital. 5 Mr. Hess, who was 39, had been ill for two weeks. He was a graduate of City College, the Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland Law School, where he was awarded the Order of the Coif.

Returned To City After passing the bar examination, Mr. Hess worked as an attorney for the Federal General Services Administration in New York city for several years (before returning to Baltimore about eight years ago to establish his own law practice. He was a member of the Bar Association of Baltimore City, the Plaintiffs Bar Association, the American Bar Association and was authorized to appear before the Supreme Court. He belonged also to the Baltimore Museum of Art, the Baltimore Symphony and the Citizens Planning and Housing Association. Mr.

Hess, whose interests included boating, fishing, photography and wildlife, lived at 119 West Lafayette avenue with his wife, the former Jane Bradshaw. Funeral services will be held at 4 P.M. today at the Sol Levinson and Brothers funeral establishment, 6010 Reisterstown road. Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Mrs. Emmanuel Hess, Baltimore.

Walter Macken Galway City, Ireland, April 22 (P) Walter Macken, Irish actor, novelist and playwright, died today. He was 51. His best known literary work was the trilogy- the Fair Land," Silent People" and "The Scorching Wind." MRS. LOCKARD SERVICES SET Octogenarian Member Of The D.A.R. Died Friday Funeral services for Mrs.

Louise W. Lockard, who was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, have been scheduled I for 2 P.M. tomorrow. Services will be held at the Henry W. Jenkins and Sons funeral establishment, 4905 York road.

Mrs. Lockard, who was 85. died Friday at the Homewood Apartments, where she had lived for the last seventeen years. She had been ill for three and a half years. Married In 1906 The former Louise Wright, she was born in Baltimore and attended public schools here.

She was married in 1906 to the late Dr: G. Carroll Lockard, who was a professor of clinical I medicine at the University of Maryland Medical School when he died in 1949. Mrs. Lockard was a member of the Francis Scott Key Chapter, D.A.R.; the Maryland State Society, United States Daughters of the War of 1812; and the Maryland Historical Society. For many years, she had been a member of the Wilson, Memorial Church, 3509 North Charles street.

Mrs. Lockard is survived by her son, G. Carroll Lockard, of Paolo Alto, three grand-children and four greatgrandchildren. James A. Roe Hollywood, April 22 (P).

James A. Roe, New York Democratic leader, died early today at the Hotel Sheldon where he had been vacationing with his wife for the past three months. A hotel spokesman said Mr. Roe apparently suffered a heart attack. The body will be sent to Flushing, N.Y., for services and burial.
