If you haven’t had a chance to hit up the LA Fair – well now is the time! Summer has come early because The LA County Fair is back and better than ever. The rides are fun, the food is tasty, and the LA skyline illuminates with excitement. ICYMI the LA Fair is happening through May 27th ( Memorial Day) at the Fairplex in Pomona and we’re spilling all of its adventurous secrets. We had the chance to be right in the middle of the action and got a literal taste of every inventive and delicious food offered plus a first look at all the games and rides. Here is everything to know about dining at the LA fair.
Fun Biz Concessions – the leader in creative state fair food – put on one of the best foodie heavens at the LA Fair for a select group of guests, influencers and members of the media. They put on an innovative presentation with top-notch cuisine that kept our mouths watering. Fun Biz stands also make sure they use locally sourced ingredients, so it’s California dairy you taste in every bacon wrapped cheesy bite. They’re one of the most creative concession owners around and are on track to feed the country one delicious bite at a time. You know that feeling when you’re surrounded by so many food options that your stomach doesn’t know which way to turn? Well, that’s exactly how we felt. The names of the stands alone were enough to make our mouths water: Bacon A Fair, Spud Ranch, Get Fried, and Texas Stakeout. And you can only imagine what was offered. Yeah, keep reading for the yummy reality.
First up – “Bacon Affair.” A full stand devoted to the joy of bacon, including bacon-wrapped turkey legs and other bacon delights. We indulged in some Candied Pork Belly Bites, which were like sweet, savory, melt-in-your-mouth goodness all in one bite. We couldn’t resist trying the Cheesy Bacon Bites, because, well, bacon and cheese, what could be better? To wash it all down…we sipped on an Agua Fresca with a Candy Stick, because hydration is key, even at the fair. Up next, Spud Ranch. They served up some serious comfort food with The Tater Dog—a literal hot dog, but instead of a bun, it’s wrapped in crispy tater tots. Yeah, it’s as epic as it sounds. And then there’s The Cheesy Gringo, a baked potato loaded with mac & cheese. It’s like a hug for your taste buds.
Over at Get Fried, things got even more creative. We tried the Chicken Donut Sandwich, which is basically fried chicken sandwiched between two glazed donuts. Surprisingly delicious and not sweet. And then there’s the Fruity Pebble Shrimp and Rice Bowl—colorful, crunchy, and downright delightful. Oh, and we couldn’t resist munching on some Fried Pickle Chips which were lightly battered and just the right amount of salty. Then, we walked over to the Texas Stakeout. They have the legendary Rodeo Donut Burger. Yep, you read that right—a burger sandwiched between two glazed donuts. To wash that down we had theCucumber Mint Lemonade.
Another savory item that is going to be an LA Fair staple is the The Smokestack. It’s a seasoned waffle hashbrown that holds a pulled pork, elote, Oaxaca cheese, spices and peppery goodness good, fresh made crunch slaw, French fried onion crisps and jalapeños and a sweet and tangy bbq sauce. Our fearless leader and tour guide, Alex, kept us entertained with fun facts about the LA Fair and its tasty eats as we made our way from stand to stand. Bet ya didn’t know that the LA County Fair mascot is Thummer the pig? Well we all do now!
Of course, there is more to do than just eat your way thorough LA fair food. The fair has more than 70 rides & 29 games. If rides aren’t your thing, hang out for a bit and then party all night at one of their epic concerts. Featured artists includeNELLY, Ramón Ayala, Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo’s anthems and so much more. A total musical feast for everyone. We walked all around the fair, visited the exhibits ( los of art to see too), and tasted so many delightful dishes. Now, go forth and feast, my friends!
