His father, C.W. Via, passed away in 1994 and hit mother, known in utter yean at Haley Carmody, in 1998. Upon her retirement, she was awarded the rank of Professor Emeritus. Throughout her teaching career, Dr. Butt shared her knowledge and passion for learning with her students. Her dedication to teaching, her commitment to helping handicapped children, and her relationship with the people of Mexico culminated in the development of a program to bring her students, along with specialized technology, and specialists to the Comunidad Crecer Clinic Mexico City each year to help the handicapped children of Mexico. The Comunidad Crecer Clinic honored Dr.

Butt for her work by naming a new wing for augmentative commmiuucation after her. Paul and Dolores loved Mexico and its wonderful people, and after many years of vacationing there, the couple retired to San Carlos, in 199S. Dolores wat a prodigious reader and a true lover of books on all sorts of subjects. She enjoyed painting, writing, and the opera. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert Smith and Joel C.

Smith. She it survived by her husband, Paul Butt; four sons and their spouses, Paul S. Butt, Martin R. Butt and Willie, Neal T. Butt and Elizabeth, and Dr.

Allen E. Butt and Sara Turtle; her sister, Regina Smith Zudick; seven beloved grandchildren, Eubie, Mana, Nathan, Alex, Morgan, Stephanie, Julian and Gus; two great-grandchildren, Mercedes and Andrea; four nephews, Carter Zudick, Patrick Smith, Michael Smith, and James Dalton; five nieces, Claudia Z. Williamson, Regina Z. Earnest, Cynthia Zudick, Katherine Hartung. Marjorie De Martino and husband, Franco; ana five great nephews, Jessie Williamson, Wesley Williamson, Kris Hartung, Justin De Martino and Mathew De Martino.

Cremation has taken place and a family memorial service will be held at a later at which time her ashes will be spread on the Sea of Cortez that she to loved. A bright mind and inquisitive intellect is no longer with us and will be greatly missed. CADY-Richard (Dick) H. Cady, age 77, died Sunday, September 19, 2004 in Albuquerque. Born April 27, 1927 in Lansing, Michigan, he retired from the University of New Mexico as Director of Policy and Planning in 1995.

He received a B.A. from Michigan State University and M.A.'s from both The University of Michigan and American University in Washington D.C. He served two tours in the U.S. Navy where he specialized in electronics. After serving his country, he became Director of Research and Development Management for the U.S.

Bureau of Ships and later worked for the Department of Defense in satellite communication at Bendix Corp. in Ann Arbor. He was appointed Director of Institutional Research at Northern Illinois University where he served for five years. An active member of Aquinas Newman Center in Albuquerque, Richard served as lector, Financial Planning Council, and Stewardship ministries for many years. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for 29 years and he attended the Monday Night Live Group at the Church of the Risen Savior.

Survived by his wife, Joan Cady; sons, R. Michael Cady and Dr. J. Christopher Cady; and daughters, Jennifer Cady and Lelia Elisabeth Cady. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Newman Center on Saturday, October 9, 2004 at 10:00 a.m.

French Mortuary, 7121 Wyoming Blvd. NE 823-9400 CLOUGH-Dr. Richard H. Clough, Sc.D., 82, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, passed away on September 30, 2004. He is survived by his daughter, Janet L.

Chapman and husband, Michael Malone and grandson, Steve R. Chapman, all of Albuquerque. Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Jean of 45 years and his son, Kenneth, who was killed in Vietnam. Richard was born in Springer, New Mexico on August 25, 1922. He was a descendant of a pioneer New Mexico ranching family.

Richard graduated from Albuquerque High in 1939. He obtained his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of New Mexico, his M.S. from the University of Colorado and his Sc. D.

from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Richard served as Torpedo and Fire Control Officer on attack submarine, the U.S.S. COD, during World War II. Decorated. He served as Executive Vice President of Lem-bke, Clough and King Construction Co.

Richard was a professor for 32 years at the University of New Mexico where he was also Chairman of the Department of Civil Engineering and the Dean of College of Engineering. He was a member of several organizations: Member of Board of Directors, Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority, Member and Chairman of the New Mexico State Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors and a Member and President of New Mexico Section, American Society of Civil Engineers. He received Service awards from Associated General Contractors of America and National Society of Professional Engineers. Richard was author and co-author of two well known text books on construction contracting and management. By his request no services will be held.

Pat served as an instructor with the University of New Mexico, Albuquerque Skill Center, and Albuquerque Technical-Vocational Institute. Pat had an extensive background and experience with Business Communications, Business Language Skills ft Advanced Secretarial Administration. Pat held a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education with a minor in English.

Pat also held a Master of Arts in Teaching Business Subjects. Outside of teaching. Pat and her family traveled to many far away placet. She was born August 10, 1909 in El Paso, TX. and she and her husband, Jack, were married in 1933. They eventually moved to Las Vegas. NM in 1947 and opened Popular Dry Goods, which is still a family owned business after 57 years. Following Jack's death in 1983, Helen moved to live in Albuquerque to be doser to her family.

She lived at The Montebello for 14 years and truly felt it was her home. She also was a member of Congregation B'nai Israel for over 50 years. She is survived by ber daughters, Sylvia Gdon of Banning. CA; Nancy Zenner and husband, Leo of Albuquerque; brother, Nissan Pearl and wife, Dolores of Highland Park, II, and Nissan's twin sister, Ruth Zlotoff and husband, Bob of San Diego, CA, tister-in-ltw, Rita Pearl of San Jose, CA; and brother-in-law. NE 275-3500 LYON Norman William Lyon, Jr, a resident of Santa Fe, passed away at age 84 on Wednesday, September 29, 2004. He is survived by Emma, his wife of 54 years; daughter, Sarah Lyon; sons, John Lyon and wife, Barbara, and Bradford Lyon; stepsons, Raymond Buffum and wife, Christine, and Richard Buffum and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, Angela Lyon and partner, Michael Miller, and Wesley Lyon Plimpton and wife, Melinda; and great-grandchildren, Sebastian Miller and Michael Miller III. He was preceded in death by his son, Norman (Bill) Lyon III. Norman was born August 3, 1920 to Thirza and Norman Lyon in Springfield, Massachusetts. He served in the Navy in the Pacific area during World War II.

He worked is a machinist at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in Hartford, Connecticut, and went to work for the Los Alamos National Laboratory in 1963. He retired from the labs in 1983. He is a past member of Sons of the American Revolution and the Royal City Ratio Control Club. Cremation was arranged by French Mortuary. A ceremony and interment will take place at Santa Fe National Cemetery at a later date.

MARKS Alta Marie McKinstry Marks was born May 23, 1926 in Lincoln, Nebraska and died on Sept 28, 2004, in Albuquerque, NM after a long battle with cancer and related illness. She was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd B. Marks; her father and mother, Frank T. McKinstry and Catherine P.

Berry; and her brother, Frank T. McKinstry, Jr. She was much loved by many, and her open arms outlook gave her an abundant life and made many individuals who walked through her door 'adopted' family members. She will be greatly missed by many. A special thanks from the family goes out to her longtime and devoted friend, Jeannette Tuff, who took great and loving care of her until the end, and to her "adopted son" Wolf who stayed by her bedside for many days and nights.

PLATZ-Drusilla Platz, age 92, and a resident of Albuquerque and Placitas since 1948, died Sunday, September 26, 2004. She is survived by her daughter, My ma Roberts and husband, Dave of Alta Loma, CA; her son, Craig Platz and wife, Peggy of Placitas; and grandchildren, Pamela Roberts, Mitchell Roberts, Wade Platz, and Rachael Platz. She and her predeceased husband, Richard "Dick" Platz, both reared in Kansas, honeymooned to Albuquerque in 1932 and loved New Mexico to much they swore to return and live here, which they achieved 16 years later. Both were long-time members of Immanuel Presbyterian Church and Las Placitas Presbyterian Church, and together were long time members and officers of New Mexico Unit 069 of WBCCI, caravanning, rallying, and touring most of North America with their Airstream trailer. She also was past president and longtime member of Gar-dinanos de Placitas, gardening being her favorite of many hobbies.

Her brother, J.C. Schwartzman, wife Sue and sister-in-law Gertrude Schwartzman Rathgeber, husband Don. She was a loving mother and sup- 1 portive military wife.

When the family was 1 transferred to Cannon Air Force base in Clovis, 1 NM, they fell in love with the southwest, and they retired there. Ruth enjoyed rock and Indian 1 artifact hunting, collecting antiques, and family gatherings. Ruth's last few years were spent at 1 Carestone in Albuquerque where she enjoyed the many activities. She was 57. Schwei and University of California, Los Angeles professor Hanay Geiogamah founded the American Indian Dance Theatre in 1987. It was the first all-American-Indian company of dancers, singers and musicians. Schwei, a native of Milwaukee, earned a bachelor's degree at New York University. She had been interested in American-Indian art and culture since she was young.

She was working as a concert and theatrical producer in New York City when she and Geiogamah began planning a show of American-Indian dancers in 1986. In an interv iew with the Los Angeles Times on Wednesday, Geiogamah, the troupe's ere-, ative director, said, "We went to all the major powwows of the national circuit in the summer of 1986 looking for singers and dancers," he said. After raising their family in Hamden, CT, Anita and Ernie traveled extensively around the world, including 10 years in Europe working for NATO civilian services. Uponfeturning to the States, they retired to Albuquerque in 1990. Anita was very active in a number of volunteer organizations in Albuquerque, including her time as a docent at the Indian Pueblo Cultural Center.

Anita also became active in her Synagogue, Congregation Albert. She became very interested and conversant on the history of trie Jewish People in New Mexico. This included the study of historical documents regarding the diaspora in the Southwest, and the verbal histories of converso Jews in the local area. Anita was an avid reader, a connoisseur of newspaper clippings from the New York Times (front-to-back every day), and shared them with her family and friends in order to keep them as current as she. She was a true aficionado of the written menu, and a self- styled and widely acknowledged gourmet cook.

Her love for animals was unmatched, and she provided homes to several rescued pit-bulls during her life. Anita had a sharp sense of humor, always appreciative of a ioke, pun or a light moment, and this will surely be missed. Anita leaves behind memories, friends, and loving family. She touched all of us in so many ways that they are truly too numerous to count. Her family wishes to thank the medical and surgical teams of the University of New Mexico Hospital, including the SW professional staff for their compassionate care during her final days.

After graduatin from Webb City High School in 1936, he enlisted in the Naval Reserve and was a veteran of WWIJ during which time he was assigned to the Army OSS. He was honorably discharged and graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Political Science. He subsequently completed speciality training in African affairs at Oxford, England. Thereafter he and his wife, Laurel began a long career in the foreign service--Department of State and the United States Agency for International Development.

During his years with the foreign service he and his family lived in Ethiopia, Paraguay, Sudan, Liberia, Somalia, Ecuador, Sierra Leone, and Kenya and traveled extensively in Europe. After his retirement from the State Department, he worked as a international contractornegotiator with AID, traveling in Africa, the Phillipines and Panama. He is survived by Laurel Adams (married 1941-1988); four daughters: Elizabeth and her husband, Michael Judd, Marie, Cynthia and her husband, James Lewis, and Paula and her husband, Ross Consaul; five grandchildren: Jennie and her husband, Darrell Chaloupkas, Kathryn Lewis, James Lewis and his wife, Jennifer, Emily and Rose Consaul; and five great-grandchildren: Garrett, Brent, and Samantha Chaloupkas and Hadyn and Harrison Lewis.
