Mr. Ackers died Tuesday, May 21, 1996 in Orem, Utah as a result of an industrial accident. Born Jan. 28, 1949 in Portland, he was a son of Joseph and Alice Ackers. He served in the U.S.

Air Force until his honorable discharge in 1971, and then graduated from Mount Hood Community College in Gresham, Ore. He moved to Columbia from Portland 16 months ago. He worked as an engineer in the rock crushing industry and worked for Cancia in Vancouver, Wash. for 19 years. For the past 18 months he worked with Hewitt Robins in Columbia.

He was married to Jennifer Ruegg on September 12, 1969 in Sandy, Ore. Surviving are his wife of Columbia; sons, Benjamin and Spencer Ackers of Columbia; his mother of Troutdale, brother, Randy Ackers of Gresham, sisters, Carol Brewer of Olympia, Wash. and Beth Rhinehart of Gresham, Ore. Lt. Col. Buckwalter died Friday, May 24, 1996. Born in Pughtown, he was a son of the late Samuel Naylor and Edith Mourar Buckwalter. He retired from the U.S.

Army after 23 years of service and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was the former owner of Forest Acres Realty Co on and was president of the Columbia Board of Realtors in 1967 and was selected as Realtor of the Year in 1970. He was instrumental in establishing the Multiple Listing Service in Columbia. He was a Shriner and a member of the Fort Jackson Masonic Lodge and Covenant Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his wife, Mildred Buckwalter: children, Sandra Frick-Helms, Susan Mitchell, David Buckwalter and Georgette Sandifer, all of Columbia; grandchildren, Linda Theus, Leslie Mitchell, Daniel Frick, Charles Frick, Lisa Frick, Suzanne Lemons, Alfie Buckwalter and Kasey Sandifer; and three greatgrandchildren.
